Who is Phyllis?
Phyllis Curott is a pioneering spiritual teacher and one of America’s first public Wiccan High Priestesses, an activist attorney handling or consulting on most of the groundbreaking religious rights cases for the Pagan community. She is also the best-selling author of several books and essays including the internationally best-selling memoir, Book of Shadows. Phyllis is Vice Chair Emerita of the Parliament of the World’s Religions, creator of the historic Inaugural Women’s Assembly, and drafter of the Declaration for the Dignity and Human Rights of Women adopted by the 2015 Parliament. Inducted into the Martin Luther King Jr. Collegium of Clergy and Scholars, Phyllis was honored by Jane Magazine as one of the Ten Gutsiest Women of the Year and by Time as one of America’s “leading voices.” New York Magazine described her teaching on Earth-based spirituality and the Divine Feminine as the culture’s “next big idea.”
About the events:
Thursday Sept. 12th: Theosophical Society Lecture – Nature’s Secret Magic: Embodied Spirit and the Path Home to Enlightenment
There is a reason we are here on Earth at this moment of environmental crisis and evolutionary possibility. There is a Mystery hiding in plain sight, a revelation to be experienced, an ancestral wisdom to be rediscovered: Nature embodies the Divine. For thousands of years, we’ve lived with blindfolds tied on by history and habit, believing that the Divine dwells elsewhere, unable to see that we reside in the realm of the Sacred. Our future, and the future of life on Earth, depends upon removing our blindfolds. This talk explores how we too are part of Nature, how natural laws are also profound spiritual principles, and how there is a “secret magic,” discovered by biologists and known to wicces and shamans, Indigenous peoples and mystics of all traditions, that offers a divine template for humanity to live in harmony with one another and with Creation. The talk will include a meditation practice called Green Breathing to experience how Mother Earth sustains our souls as well as our bodies and to help us remember who we are, where we are and why we are here.
Time: 7pm – 9pm
Tickets: Pr-Registration$15 and tickets at the door will be $20 Purchase Here
Friday Sept. 13th: Que4 Lecture – Natures Secret Magic
We’re here on Earth at this time of acute environmental crisis for a reason: there’s a revelation hiding in plain sight upon which the future of life depends. This talk explores Nature’s “secret magic,” how it overturns the foundations of Pagan ethics and provides an entirely different creed. We are being called home to our ancient roles, regardless of traditions, as seers of the Sacred and guides to humanity’s future and the future of Mother Earth. It’s time to remember where we are, who we are and why we are here.
Time: 7pm – 9pm
Tickets: Pr-Registration $15 and tickets at the door will be $20
Saturday Sept. 14th: Theosophical Society Saturday: The Path Home: Nature’s Ways to Embody Spirit
Our Indigenous ancestors knew that Nature embodies Spirit and that the laws of Nature are also profound spiritual principles. All living things live in harmony with that wisdom, but human beings have forgotten, with deadly consequences for our future and the future of life on Mother Earth. We are being called to awaken, to rediscover that we too are part of Nature, to remember how to embody Spirit.
This one-day immersive workshop explores ways to experience the “shining through” of divinity into Creation and into ourselves as natural beings. Just as you don’t have to be Buddhist to meditate or Hindu to practice yoga, participants will work with shamanic Wiccan practices to revitalize our senses, including our sense of the Sacred, and to heal the wounds of separation from the web of life and from essential parts of our selves. We’ll honor Earth as our mother and ourselves as her children, and to the extent that weather permits, we’ll work outdoors on the beautiful grounds of the Theosophical Society. Practices will include:
• Working within a sacred circle
• Elemental meditations, invocations and blessings
• Green Breathing with the assistance of plants
• Grounding to deeply connect with Mother Earth
• Encountering and working with spirits of place and nature beings
• Observing and working with seasonal wisdom and cyclical energies
• Making offerings of gratitude
Everything we need to heal, everything we need to flourish is all around and within us. Together we’ll remember who we are, where we are and why we are here.
Time: 10:30am – 4:30pm
Tickets: TS Members: $60 • Nonmembers: $70 • $80 the door
