Q: Do you have new hours! What can I expect?

A: Our Oak Park Location wound up being so successful last year that we wanted to hold it there again although we must move to a Sunday to be able to do this. The hours this year are the same as last year.

PLEASE NOTE: As this is a historical site, there is NO SMOKING INSIDE Pleasant Home AT ALL. You can however step outside of the gates and smoke.

Q: What is parking like around Home Avenue?

A: There is a lot of available street parking, not only around the entire block, but also one-half blocks away. However, parking may be difficult if you arrive later in the day.

Q: What about transportation by train and bus?

Q: What time does this event begin?


A: Registration for the public begins at 11a.m. and the event concludes at 6:00 p.m. Vendors are invited to arrive and begin setting up from 8a.m to 10 a.m. We will have workshops and plenty of activities throughout the day. All must pack up and be able to leave the grounds by 7:00 p.m.

Q: Is the building wheelchair accessible?

A: Most definitely, yes! We suggest that those who require assistance with walking or wheelchairs to please enter by the WEST ENTRANCE.

Q: Is there an admission charge for this event?

A: Yes, there is an admission charge of canned and/or non-perishable food goods to be donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository to help the needy in the community. There are several food stores in the immediate area where you can make your purchase.

Q: Are there any restrictions regarding this Pride event?

A: Alcoholic beverages, smoking, animals/pets, open flames, illegal substances, weapons, or adult content items ARE NOT ALLOWED onto the premises. Please remember, this is a family-friendly event, so everyone is asked to use good judgment regarding their attire and behavior during this event. Security will be on hand for your assistance.

Q: Will food be available throughout the day?

A: Yes. We are providing a food vendor with both meat and vegetarian options.

Q: Are there restrooms?

A: Yes, there are two clean, modern, indoor restrooms located inside the Pleasant Home. We will also be renting two Portable toilets.

Q: What should I do when I arrive at the event?

A: Please register at the Welcoming Table, located directly in front of the Pleasant Home. Additional information including our Event Program will be provided there.

Q: What's this I hear about Raffle prizes?

A: We will be selling tickets for the raffle prizes when you check in at the the registration desk. Additional tickets may be purchased up until the time of the raffle.
We will also be holding a silent auction this year including signed books/CD's by various authors and Pagan Musicians who donated these items for our event.

Q: How do I know what there is to do and see?


A: Our Pride event offers many activities and vendors for your enjoyment. Please check out the PROGRAM link on the website prior to the event. Also, there will be a printed program booklet available at the welcoming sign-in table when you register.

Q: Will there be a photographer?

A: This is a "Camera-Friendly" event. There will be an event photographer taking pictures for
possible publication on our website. If you do not wish to be photographed, please avoid the camera. Also last year we had photographers from the media there. Our event was covered in 2 local Newspapers.

Q: Are the canned food donations just for people, can I bring some donations for the animals?

A: The canned food donations are *just for people*. Unfortunately the pet shelter does not have the resources to be on premises and accept donations and the food pantry is unable to accept pet donations. Money raised from our Silent auction and raffle, plus any cash donations received will benefit our other charities and/or help fund next years event.
